The Maiden Heist is a comedy film directed by Peter Hewitt and starring Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, William H. Macy, and Marcia Gay Harden.
A comedy centered on three museum security guards (Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken and William H. Macy) who devise a plan to steal back the artworks to which they have become attached after the new curator has planned to have the artworks transferred to another museum in Denmark in favor of Scandinavian modernist sculptures as well as dung sculptures. One of the guards (Christopher Walken) has a wife, Marcia Gay Harden, who is saving money for a trip to Florida on the same day as the planned heist. The three guards work around their issues to take back their prized pieces of artwork.
It had a tentative release date of May 29, 2009 before being shelved following the bankruptcy of its distributor, Yari Film Group. It debuted at the Edinburgh International Film Festival June 25, 2009 and was released to DVD on November 24, 2009.
