The movie opens on local paperboy Johnny McFarley as he is riding his bike to the house of elderly Mrs. Thorpe to deliver her newspaper. He is able to gain access with a key he has and then smothers Mrs. Thorpe with a plastic bag, inducing a heart attack. He then takes the bag off and continues his route.
