"The Rat" is the fourteenth episode of the television series Prison Break. It was first broadcast on March 20, 2006 in the United States after a four-month hiatus. The episode was written by series producer Matt Olmstead and directed by Kevin Hooks. Starting with this episode, Peter Stormare's name no longer appears in the opening credits while Rockmond Dunbar's name is added to the opening credits. The episode directly follows where the previous episode ends with the protagonist Michael Scofield's failed escape attempt and the impending execution of his brother, Lincoln Burrows.
