The Real Coast Guard is the second album by American West Coast Rapper Young Maylay. It was released on July 4, 2008.
Unlike Young Maylay previous release, The Real Coast Guard does not have so many guest appearances. Guests include WC, Bad Lucc, Jelly Roll, King Tee, Traci Nelson and spoken word by DJ Crazy Toones.
The album lead production was made by Young Maylay mentors WC and DJ Crazy Toones. The album was released on July 4 because Maylay was feeling “independent”. It was mixed by Dave Dizmix Lopez.
In 2008 the song “You Ain’t Uh” was available in his official MySpace page as a download to promote the album. The song is still available in the West Coast Hip Hop site Dubcnn.com as a free download.
Young Maylay first announced The Real Coast Guard as simply Coast Guard, but another hip hop artist called Topic had released an album with this name in summer 2007, so Maylay had to change the album name.
