In 2005, WWE released a DVD documentary entitled The Rise and Fall of ECW which focused on the history of Extreme Championship Wrestling. This release proved so popular with fans that it spawned two ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view events as well as the full time return of ECW as a WWE brand. In 2009, WWE announced that they are working on a follow-up DVD focusing on their main rivals from 1988-2001, WCW.
