"The Road Trip to Harvard" is the fourth episode of the second season of the television series Gilmore Girls. It originally aired on October 23, 2001.
After fleeing from the pressure and uncertainty of her (former) marriage to Max. We start out with Lorelai and Rory driving around aimlessly. Since they're headed towards Portsmouth, NH, Lorelai suggests that they stop at her friend Donald's B&B.; When they get there, they discover that it has been purchased by a woman named LaDawn, renamed The Cheshire Cat, and decorated in an especially frilly and flowery style. ("Satanic forces are at work here/Sat and am forever at work here.") They reluctantly decide to stay.
That night, Rory tries to talk about Max, but Lorelai refuses. Rory is upset that she has disrupted all of their lives, and they have a loud fight. She finally tells Rory that she wishes she loved Max, but she doesn't.
The next day, after being forced to socialize with the other guests, they decide to visit Harvard. When...
