The Streets at Southpoint and Main Street is a super-regional shopping mall located in south Durham, North Carolina, adjacent to Interstate 40 and Fayetteville Road. The mall boasts the state's first Nordstrom department store and was also the first in the state to incorporate an outdoor village concept when it opened in 2002, better known as "Main Street." This section includes a Barnes & Noble, Pottery Barn, an Apple Store, a 16-screen cinema operated by Stone Theatres, and a number of restaurants such as Maggiano's Little Italy, Firebirds Rocky Mountain Grill, The Cheesecake Factory, Champps Americana, Rockfish, and California Pizza Kitchen. Security is managed by Valor Security Services.
The opening of the new mall led to the demise of Durham's older South Square Mall. Once The Streets at Southpoint opened, Belk and J.C. Penney closed their locations at South Square, as did a number of other tenants. Belk eventually closed its other locations in the Durham area at Northgate Mall...
