The story begins with the Jedi group of Jacen Solo, Jaina Solo, Lowbacca, Zekk, Tahiri, and Tesar near a Killik world, watching as the Chiss try and destroy the planet. While there, they discover a bomb that was made by the Chiss but failed to detonate. The Chiss sent in infantry to try and vaporize the bomb, in which they succeed. Back on the planet Ossus, Luke Skywalker has called back all the Jedi (except Jaina and Zekk) and delivers this ultimatum: "So I'm asking you to rethink your commitment to the Jedi. If you can't place the good of the order above all else and follow the direction chosen by your superiors, I'm asking you to leave.
