Thelma Toole

Thelma Agnes Ducoing Toole (September 3, 1901 – August 17, 1984) was mother of author John Kennedy Toole, and her efforts led to the posthumous publication of A Confederacy of Dunces. Her husband was John D. Toole, Jr. A lifelong New Orleans resident, she began shopping the book to publishers after her only son's suicide.
