It was recorded in only six days (nine of the songs were done in three days) and released on July 1, 1997. Through extensive touring and the band's later breakthrough into the mainstream, the album went double platinum. Part of the reason the band stood out from their peers was their kinetic, frenzied energy on stage.
The album was mixed at Soundtrack Studio in New York City and mastered at Masterdisk in New York City.
Some copies of the disc have Intro mislabelled as Infest. Also, Intro had originally been the intro to the song Pollution as can be heard on the Pollution demo. The hidden track "Blind" is actually a remake of a song on Mental Aquaducts.
