TES covered higher education until the Times Higher Education Supplement was launched as a sister publication in 1971. By 1999, a separate group of News International - Times Supplements Limited - was restructured to create TSL Education Ltd, at this stage also publishing the Times Higher Education Supplement, and Nursery World. In October 2005, the group was sold to Exponent, a private equity group, who in turn sold it to Charterhouse in May 2007.
