He was attending the University of Southern California and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity when he auditioned with Eve 6. A big fan of the Fox television show The X-Files, Fagenson was inspired to name the band Eve 6 after his favorite episode, "Eve". In the episode, there are many female clones named Eve; after Eve #6 made a remark about biting a guard's eyeball, he thought she was worthy of naming a band after. Tony is the son of the Grammy Award winning producer Don Was.
