Total Annihilation is no longer sold or supported, due to the bankruptcy of Cavedog. With Gas Powered Games, lead designer Chris Taylor went on to create Supreme Commander, popularly considered the "spiritual successor" of Total Annihilation. A remake of Total Annihilation named Spring, with a completely 3D graphics engine and lacking any fixed camera angle, has also been independently produced.
