To avoid delays caused by the 2007￢ﾀﾓ08 WGA strike, Bay wrote a sixty-page "template" based on an outline written by Kruger, Orci and Kurtzman that was turned in the day before the strike. The writers continued from there. Filming will begin on June 2 2008 and will take place at the former Bethlehem Steel site in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (which will double for a Chinese city); Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; Jordan; and Sedona, Arizona. It will be a 3-D film. Meanwhile, IDW Publishing released its own comic book sequel to the film, The Reign of Starscream.
