Tristran is the son of Dunstan Thorn and the slave girl of a witch (although he initially believes himself to be the son of his father's wife, Daisy). Tristran is a resident of Wall, a village named for the wall which borders it to the East. There is a small gap in this wall, through which can be seen a meadow and beyond it a forest.
