He made his debut in the Yash Raj Films movie Mohabbatein. This film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and three other debutantes (Shamita Shetty, Preeti Jhangiani and Kim Sharma). There were two other male actors in Jimmy Shergill (debut movie "Maachis") and Jugal Hansraj (debut movie as an adult was "Aa Gale Lag Jaa") whose careers were relaunched with Mohabbatein. The film did well at the box office.
