Ultimaton, also known as Weapon XV, is a supervillain in the Marvel Universe and enemy of the X-Men. Ultimaton, also known as Weapon XV, is a supervillain in the Marvel Universe and enemy of the X-Men. Ultimaton first appeared in New X-Men #143 (August, 2003) and was created by Grant Morrison and Chris Bachalo. Ultimaton is the latest living weapon created by Weapon Plus, the anti-mutant supersoldier program that created Captain America, Wolverine and Fantomex, and was designated by his creators as Weapon XV. Like Fantomex (Weapon XIII) and Huntsman, Ultimaton was born and was artificially "evolved" in The World, a man-made environment designed to create super-soldiers using Sentinel technology. Due to the time manipulation capabilities of the World facilities, Ultimaton was several generations more advanced than the preceding living weapons. Ultimaton was created to be the powerhouse of the Super-Sentinels, a team of mutant hunters conceived by John Sublime as a publicity stunt to make the extermination of mutants acceptable to the public.
