Ultimus is a member of the Kree race, a warrior believed to be a Kree Eternal. Somehow he came to Earth, and fell into a state of suspended animation in a subterranean area 3,000 years ago. He was accidentally awakened from his slumber, and as the Demon Druid he battled Thor in England. He finally reached Stonehenge, and launched himself into space. Some time later, he reappeared in Scotland and encountered Excalibur. He created a nuclear facsimile of Stonehenge, which opened a teleportational gateway to his home world.
Ultimus was later contacted on an unnamed planet in the Kree Galaxy and recruited by the Supreme Intelligence to aid in the Kree/Shi'ar War. Ultimus traveled to Hala, where he met Shatterax, Korath, and Supremor for the first time. As a member of the Kree Starforce, he battled the Avengers.
