Valley Girls was a proposed spin-off of Gossip Girl, a television series created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and currently airing on The CW Television Network. The backdoor pilot of the spin-off aired as "Valley Girls", the 24th episode of the second season of Gossip Girl. The spin-off would have centered on the lives of character Lily van der Woodsen and her sister Carol living in the San Fernando Valley. After much speculation on the show's status, it was pronounced dead when the show did not appear in the CW's fall schedule. However, on May 21, at a CW upfront Dawn Ostroff, the CW's CEO, stated the show is still in consideration for midseason. On August 4 during the CW executive press tour, Ostroff stated that the show happening was "unlikely" and was not "going to happen right now".
