The USGS mission includes providing water information that benefits the nation's citizens. This site facilitates the serving of USGS water data via automated means using web services and Extensible Markup Language (XML). Consequently, to retrieve data from this site, machines must be able to interpret and process data marked up in XML, as well as retrieve data using either the SOAP or REST protocols.
Both this site and USGS water web services are new, so bear with us while we go through growing pains. The content on this site will change periodically.
