The game is largely a traditional platform game with the player controlling Kawauso-kun. Notably the title attempted to break away from many video game conventions of the time, such as including two fake title screens and allowing the character to traverse the background to bridge the seemingly impossible to cross pit of spikes.
Interestingly the character's attack works by holding down the attack button as the game cycles through the possible special moves with the more powerful attacks only highlighted for a short period of time.
