His character fitted well in with his extraordinary fate: as the son of a king who had been granted a longer life-span than any other mortal man, Vardamir was never likely to survive Elros by long.
When Elros finally died, Vardamir was a very old man, and immediately abdicated in favour of his son, Tar-Amandil. He was counted as the second King of Nￃﾺmenor, having nominally ruled for a single year. He died in year 471 of the Second Age, aged 410 years.
