Velocity of Sound was produced by Robert Schneider and engineered by The Apples in Stereo with Jim McIntyre. The album was recorded between January 2 - June 6, 2002 at Pet Sounds Recording Studio in Denver, Colorado on 8-track and 16-track tape machines as well as an electronic computer.
