Sappy was released as an uncredited track on the 1993 compilation No Alternative. The attempted recording of Verse Chorus Verse for Nevermind, as well as the version of Sappy from No Alternative, were also both posthumously released in the 2004 box set With the Lights Out.
This song, along with "Drain You", "Come as You Are", and "Lithium", is played with the guitar tuned a whole step down.
