Vientiane Province

Vientiane (Lao ວຽງຈັນ) is a province of Laos, located in the northwest of the country. in 1989 the province was split into two halves - the Vientiane prefecture containing the city Vientiane itself, and the remaining province. The province is made up of the following districts: The districts Hom and Xaisomboun were added from the now dissolved special zone Xaisomboun in 2004 and 2006 respectively.
