On January 24, 2006, the company launched a website to allow businesses and consumers to research, rate and purchase health insurance plans and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), and rate and review any doctor in the country. Vimo gained national attention in 2007 for its free service to enable consumers to comparison shop for medical services like heart transplants and out-patient surgeries.
Funded by Bessemer Venture Partners and Trinity Ventures, Vimo began operating as Healthia in 2005, changing its name from Healthia to Vimo on September 20, 2006.
In January 2007, Vimo became the first Web site to offer a "click to call" service that enables visitors to instantly connect over the phone with a health insurance broker.
