Viruddh... Family Comes First (English: Opposites) is a Bollywood film, released in 2005, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham. Viruddh is one among relatively few Bollywood films that is not a musical, instead the soundtrack is primarily used as background. Vidyadhar Patwardhan (Amitabh Bachchan) lives a middle-class life with his wife, Sumitra (Sharmila Tagore). They have a son, Amar (John Abraham) who lives abroad in London. It is through his income that the family lives on. Amar returns home with Jenny Mayer (Anusha Dandekar) and announces his intention to get married to her. Both his parents are pleased and happy for the two. Amar goes out celebrating with his friends, whilst his parents and Jenny organise a surprise party for him.
