The musical performance role that the profession, "Singer" will usually provide to a band or ensemble. Vocals, as the name implies, is a singing role. A Singer who has a Vocals role, may also play the part of an instrument, but not always. The Vocals role in a band is sometimes further subdivided to either Lead vocals or Backing vocals, but is sometimes not always narrowly specified as such.
