KGLA-DT is a digital-only television station that began broadcasting on June 5, 2007 under the callsign WHMM-DT. Locally owned by Mayavision, Inc., it is the Telemundo affiliate for the New Orleans DMA. It is licensed to Hammond, Louisiana, and broadcasts SD 480i on UHF channel 42. As it is digital only, KGLA-DT's over-the-air signal is only receivable on sets equipped with HDTV tuners or Digital-to-SDTV tuner/conversion boxes. The station is also carried on selected cable systems in the New Orleans area.
KGLA's city of license, Hammond, and its transmitter in New Orleans, are both east of the Mississippi River, making it one of the few stations in the country with a "K" callsign that is east of the Mississippi River. This is possible because Mayavision owns a 50 percent share of KGLA (AM), licensed to Gretna. The "KGLA" callsign was then grandfathered to the television station.
