Mr. Neukom was born in 1942 and was raised in the Bay Area community of San Mateo, California. He was living in the Bay Area when the Giants moved to San Francisco in 1958. He graduated from San Mateo High School in 1960 and then continued his education at Dartmouth and Stanford Law School.
Neukom received an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College (Class of 1964). Thirty years later, between 1996 and 2007, Neukom served as a trustee of Dartmouth College and he served as chair of the College's Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2007.
