William Hobbs

William Herbert Hobbs, Ph.D. (1864 - 1952) was an American geologist. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, and educated at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, at Johns Hopkins (Ph.D., 1888), and at Heidelberg (1888-89). He filled several positions at the University of Wisconsin–Madison (1889-1906). From 1886 to 1906 he served with the United States Geological Survey. His publications include: He became editor of the Journal of Geology in 1909.
