Ryū ga Gotoku 3 (龍が如く3) (Yakuza 3 in North America) is the fourth installment in the Yakuza video game series, developed and published by Sega for the PlayStation 3 video game console. The Japanese version was released in Japan and South East Asia on February 26, 2009, a subtitled version was released in Korea on February 27, 2009. According to a January 2009 interview with videogaming247's Mike Bowden, a western release is unlikely. It has been confirmed by IGN that a western release has already begun but might be developed by another company.
Unlike Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan! (often confused with Yakuza 3), which was a spinoff, this latest installment will continue the adventures of Kiryu Kazuma from Yakuza and Yakuza 2. The game will take place both in Kamuro-cho (fictional version of Tokyo's Kabuki-cho) from the first two games and in Okinawa.
A sequel named Ryū ga Gotoku 4: Densetsu wo Tsugumono (a.k.a. Yakuza 4) is currently under development for the PlayStation 3.
