Since 2006, Nickelodeon has been run by MTVN Kids & Family Group president Cyma Zarghami. The channel is aimed mostly at children ages 2-11, with the exception of their prime time block that is aimed at children ages 9-14.
Nickelodeon was originally launched as Pinwheel on December 1, 1977 and was a local station on the Qube cable station that ran for only 6 hours a day. Shows included Video Comicbook, Pop Clips and Pinwheel (TV series). Pinwheel went national in 1979 thus Nickelodeon has declared that 1979 is the network's official launch year....
