Jean-Christophe Comar (born July 4, 1957), better known as Pitof, is a French film and visual effects director, who is notable for his works including Vidocq and the critically-panned Catwoman, for which he won the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Director. Most of his work has been in French language films, such as La Cité des enfants perdus (1995) and Astérix et Obélix contre César (1999), but he has also worked on The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999), and as the visual effects supervisor on Alien Resurrection (1997). His first movie as a director, science-fiction thriller Vidocq (2001), was moderately popular and has quite a number of devoted fans. In 2004, he directed the major Hollywood production Catwoman (2004), starring Halle Berry, 'winning' himself the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Director. Although Berry and John Rogers attended the ceremony in good humor to accept their awards for Worst Actress and Worst Screenplay, respectively, Pitof did not make an appearance. His upcoming projects will include Only in New York (2009) and Empires of the Deep (2010).
