Marain is a constructed language used by the fictional Culture of Iain M. Banks. The Culture believes (or perhaps has proved, or else made true) the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis that language affects society, and Marain was designed by the Culture's hyperintelligent Minds to exploit this effect.
