Uzel is a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Bretagne in north-western France. It is about 100 km (62 mi) west-north-west of Rennes and 15 km (9.3 mi) north-west-north of Loudéac. It is home to the French study centre of Devonport High School for Boys. The old school in the centre of Uzel was the scene of torture and killings by the Nazi's and by the French Nazi sympathisers Bezen Perrot in 1944. The inhabitants of Uzel are known in French as Uzelais. Fulgence Bienvenüe, chief engineer for the Paris Métro in 1896, was born in Uzel in 1852.
