The show was a creation of Elliott; his friend Adam Resnick, who, like Elliott, had been a writer for David Letterman's Late Night with David Letterman TV show; and writer/director David Mirkin, former Executive Producer/Showrunner for Newhart and later Executive Producer/Showrunner for The Simpsons.
