Nakrekal is a town in the Nalgonda district in India. It is located along the Indian National Highway No. 9, about 25 KM. from the district headquarters at the town of Nalgonda. Nakrekal has a significant influence on the villages surrounding it. Children from many villages travel to Nakrekal everyday to go to government schools. It is an important source of common goods like oil, consumer items, pumpsets and other farm machinery, for the village folk. It also forms an immediate market for their agricultural produce. Recently a temple for Sri Sai Baba was constructed by Sri Sai Seva Sansthan Trust of Nakrekal. Nakarekal also has an indoor stadium.
Traces of Neolithic culture were found at Chota Yelupu, where sling stones and other objects of interest were unearthed. The existence of Megalithic culture was revealed by the discovery of innumerable burials at various places like Tipparti, Nakrekal, Nalgonda etc.
In ancient times this place was known as Naagarikallu (from the Book of King Vasantharaya's Kridabiramam).
