As Faith gleefully winds Angel up with ineffectual attacks, flashbacks show Angel's ordeal in Romania when the Gypsy curse giving him a soul first came into effect. Faith abducts and tortures Wesley, until Angel arrives to engage Faith in an epic battle, which lasts until Faith loses her will to fight and breaks down, revealing her deep-seated death wish as she weeps in Angel's arms.
