The album was notable for being R&B; singer Aaliyah's return from her break at college, and includes four of her songs. Producers included Timbaland and Missy Elliott, Jermaine Dupri, and Kay Gee. The album featured performances by Chante Moore, Destiny's Child, Ginuwine, Timbaland & Magoo, and others, and was executive produced by Aaliyah, Timbaland, Barry Hankerson, and Jomo Hankerson.
Three singles were released from the album: Aaliyah's number-one pop hit "Try Again", the Aaliyah/DMX duet "Come Back in One Piece", and Timbaland and Magoo's "We At It Again", which introduced Timbaland's younger brother, rapper Sebastian, to audiences.
All profanities were edited on both CD and cassette formats. an explicit version was released only on vinyl.
