WTLC is an AM radio station owned by Radio One in Indianapolis, Indiana. The station operates on the AM radio frequency of 1310 kHz. The studios are located at the corner of Meridian and St. Joseph Streets. The transmitter and antenna, according to the FCC, are located on the southside of Indianapolis between Troy and Sumner Avenues near the Indiana Railroad (the same block as WTTV's studios and transmitters.) WTLC(AM) began operation as in the early 80's as WIFE-AM. This station was a replacement with the same frequency and call letters as the WIFE-AM that was closed by the FCC shortly before. The original WIFE began life as WISH radio (the same WISH radio that started a TV station with the same calls on Channel 8 in Indianapolis). The latest incarnation went through many call changes beginning in 1984 (WIFE, WMLF, WIFE-AM, WTUX, WTLC). Various formats included Adult Contemporary, Music of Your Life, Oldies, and Urban Oldies.
