Binsted is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. The village is about four miles east of Alton. The churchyard of the parish church, the Holy Cross, contains the grave of Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein who spent his retirement in Alton. Telegraph House, now a private home, was built by the Admiralty in 1825 as a semaphore relay station on the line linking London with Plymouth. The nearest railway station is 1.8 miles (2.9 km) northeast of the village, at Bentley.
