Sif is a fictional character in Marvel Comics, in particular those featuring Thor. An Asgardian warrior and lover of Thor, she spends much of her time worrying about and searching for him. She is based on the mythological being of the same name. She first appeared in Journey Into Mystery #102. Sister of Heimdall, Sif is the constant companion of Thor and Balder since childhood. Like most Asgardians, Sif was born with golden hair, which was turned black after Loki jealousy cut it and replaced it with enchanted hair made by trolls. At an early age she showed great prowess as a warrior and was considered the best female warrior of all of Asgard, matched only by Brunnhilde. She often accompanies Thor and Balder into battle, who has developed an attraction to her; however, faithful Sif never shows affection for anyone but Thor and certain individuals that resemble him greatly.
