Mr. Vertigo is a novel written by Paul Auster and first published in 1994. It tells the story of a young orphaned boy from St. Louis, Walter Claireborne Rawley, who happens upon a mysterious traveller known only as Master Yehudi. Master Yehudi trains Walter to levitate and they begin travelling across the United States performing this feat at circus sideshows. In 2009, Audible.com produced an audio version of Mr. Vertigo, narrated by Kevin Pariseau, as part of its Modern Vanguard line of audiobooks. Mr. Vertigo inspired director Jake Scott's concept for the video for "Disarm", by The Smashing Pumpkins. The Dave Matthews song "Gravedigger" makes a reference to a young boy who wants to be like Mr. Vertigo when he grows up.
