The character is featured in both the radio and TV series (series one and two, but not three) in sketches where he visits his agent Jeremy Rent (played by Matt Lucas) looking for parts, but is always rejected (or more likely turns down the parts) because of his insistence (in a high, squeaky voice) upon wanting to "star in it, write the theme tune, sing the "theme tune", which usually often sounds similar to the Minder theme with the lyrics altered to fit the situation. (The real Waterman sang the themes to Minder, Stay Lucky, On The Up and New Tricks. It is popularly believed he wrote the Minder theme, but this is not the case.)
