The season opener starts with a scene from three years in the future; a reunion of several main characters at the opening of Bartlet's Presidential library. References are made to the lives of the characters since the end of the Bartlet administration:
Lyman arrives and says, "The President is here," but the shot of the leader emerging from his limousine fades into the credits before his identity is revealed, however the man seen leaving the limousine appears to be tall and have a dark complexion, presumably Matt Santos, as Vinick is significantly shorter than Santos and light skinned.
