Coby Karl (born June 8, 1983 in Great Falls, Montana) is a 6'5" (1.96 m), 215 lb. (98 kg) American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA. He is the son of George Karl, head coach of the Denver Nuggets. Karl attended Homestead High School in Mequon, Wisconsin and was a good student and a letterman in basketball. In basketball, as a senior, he was an All-Suburban selection, a first team All-Conference selection, and an All-State Honorable Mention selection. As a junior, he averaged 8 points and 2 rebounds per game. Coby Karl graduated from Homestead High School in 2002. Karl played basketball at Boise State while majoring in communications. In his junior season of college, Karl led his team in both points per game and assists per game at 17.2 and 4.0 respectively. He was also named to the 2005-06 All-WAC Second Team. In his senior year, Karl averaged 14.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Karl had weighed whether to return to college for his senior year or to enter the 2006 NBA Draft, attending a few pre-draft workouts for various professional teams.
