"Lazarus" is the fifteenth episode of the first season of The X-Files. It was originally broadcast February 4, 1994. It was written by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon and was directed by David Nutter. The episode revolves around an FBI agent who is possessed by the spirit of a dead bank robber.
Agent Scully assists a former colleague, Jack Willis, in apprehending a pair of bank robbers, Warren Dupre and Lula Phillips. Following an anonymous tip, the two agents corner Dupre during an attempted robbery. Dupre shoots Willis with a shotgun, but is then killed by Scully. Willis is eventually revived, but it is Dupre's corpse that reacts to the jolts from the defibrillators used on Willis.
Willis wakes up in the hospital a few days later, but now with Dupre's consciousness. He cuts the fingers off of Dupre's dead hand, takes his wedding ring, and flees the hospital. Scully explains to Agent Mulder that Willis has been obsessed with the Dupre-Phillips case for the past year and admits that she...
