"Little Green Men" was the first episode of the second season of The X-Files science-fiction television series created by Chris Carter. Agent Fox Mulder narrates a history of NASA's Voyager program and the now-definct High-Resolution Microwave Survey, which sought to contact extraterrestrial life in outer space. In Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the equipment activates at one of the Survey's abandoned observatories, indicating a response from an alien intelligence. Mulder has been re-assigned to reviewing wiretap footage while former partner Dana Scully is back teaching at the FBI Academy at Quantico. The two meet at the parking lot of the Watergate Hotel. Mulder tells Scully that he watched Deep Throat's funeral using binoculars from one-thousand feet away, and is so depressed that he is now even wondering if the "little green men" he's seen are all in his mind. Mulder flashes back to the night in 1973 when his sister, Samantha, was abducted. The two are playing Stratego when the house began shaking and a light appeared from outside. Mulder grabbed the family gun, but by then its too late; Samantha floated away and a shadowy figure stood in the doorway. Mulder is summoned to meet with
