"The Host" is a 1994 episode of The X-Files television series. It was the second episode broadcast in the show's second season. The Host features Mulder's investigation of a dead body in New Jersey that results in the discovery of a bizarre fluke-like man. On a Russian freighter on the coast of New Jersey, a crewmen trying to fix the ship's toilets is pulled into the septic system. His half-eaten body appears in the Newark, New Jersey sewers days later. Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) is assigned the case and visits with a Detective Norman in Newark, being shown the still-unidentified body.
